Paper Mills: Handling Rolls with the Right Attachment

BYD forklifts handling paper rolls with roll clamps inside a warehouse

A different load needs a different approach

Paper mills and converting plants handle rolls that differ in diameter, width and weight. The supplied application photograph shows BYD forklifts in a paper roll warehouse, including a truck fitted with a roll clamp. It demonstrates why the attachment is part of the handling solution, rather than an accessory selected after the truck.

Moving rolls through the operation

A typical workflow starts with receiving rolls, transferring them to marked storage positions and delivering the required rolls to production. Finished or staged rolls then move to dispatch. Operators need room to approach the load squarely and position it without contact with adjacent rolls. Clear travel lanes and controlled movement are particularly important where rolls are stored close together.

Match the truck, clamp and load

The truck and attachment combination must be rated for the actual roll weight, dimensions and lift height. A clamp changes the load centre and available lifting capacity, so the complete configuration requires confirmation before use. Clamp pressure and contact surfaces should suit the paper grade and roll condition. The photograph is an application reference, not a capacity chart for a particular truck.

Supporting paper production logistics

Our forklift solutions can be configured for paper industry workflows following a review of the load and site. Relevant details include roll dimensions, attachment requirements, aisle widths, stacking arrangements and shift schedules. These inputs help select a practical solution for production supply and warehouse handling without assuming every roll can be moved by the same configuration.
